About Us

We have been an English Language Centre since 1984 and we welcome you to our current Academic Term. There are eight members of staff who are qualified and experienced teachers, and up to 150 international students at any one time.

The two storey centre is an attractive historic building in a quiet conservation area in the heart of Reading, 5 minutes' walk from the Oracle central shopping and leisure area. We have four classrooms, study rooms with internet access, and a kitchen.

Cambridge University examinations can be taken at this Language School in March, June, July, August and December.  We have Cambridge exams for B1, B2, C1 and C2.

ISI (the Independent Schools Inspectorate) inspected the English Language Centre in November 2012 and reinspected in October 2013, December 2015 and 2016, all times awarding the highest grade, Exceeding Expectation, in all areas:

The most recent full inspection took place on 15th November 2016 and the school has maintained the status of EXCELLENT. The quality of education was judged to exceed expectations once again.

Delta - Teacher Training Diploma

We run courses for experienced teachers leading to the University of Cambridge Delta.

CELTA - Teacher Training Certificate

Day time and Evening courses

Our courses are for native and non-native students to train for the CELTA (University of Cambridge ESOL) qualification. Trainees follow the Cambridge syllabus towards gaining the Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults. The input and teaching practice all take place on site.

Presently there are three courses per year held on two weekdays for approximately ten weeks.

We also run a course outside normal working hours (two evenings a week for three months plus three Saturdays).

Over the past year we have welcomed students from over 50 countries around the world.
